It is very important not only to evaluate and treat patients with spinal cord injuries, but to manage and prevent the complications which occur during recovery.
Complications common in patients with spinal cord injuries include urinary tract infection & stones, decubitus ulcers, orthostatic hypotension, autonomic hyperreflexia, contractures, heterotopic ossification, thrombophlebitis, rarely posttraumatic syringomyelia.
This paper offers to discuss the complications of autonomic hyperreflexia, orthostatic hypotension, thrombophlebitis, concerned with their incidence, pathophysiology, clinical findings, management and prevention according to each case which we have observed.
